Requirements

  • Volunteers under 18 need parental/guardian approval before joining the volunteer team.
  • Volunteers must submit to a background check. For those under 18, the parent/guardian can submit a background check for their minor.

 

Shifts: Available daily, including evenings for select events. We believe in flexibility in accommodating our volunteers’ busy work schedules.

Role Descriptions

  • Event Support
    Assist with setup, registration, and ushering at public programs like author talks, film screenings, and performances.
  • Lobby Greeter or Wayfinder
    Welcome visitors, distribute guides, and help guests navigate the Center with basic directions (minimal training required).
  • Activity Day Assistant
    Engage weekend visitors by facilitating hands-on educational or cultural activities and distributing materials.
  • Craft or Activity Prep
    Support educational programming by preparing materials such as bookmarks, activity kits, or art supplies.
  • Virtual Volunteer
    Contribute remotely through data entry, social media creation, translation, or accessibility support.
  • School Group Guide
    Help staff manage large student groups as they tour the Center (minimal training required).
  • Exhibit Assistant
    Offer insights in a designated gallery room to deepen visitor engagement without leading a formal tour (some training required).
  • Docent
    Lead guided tours that deliver immersive, educational experiences across our exhibitions (training and certification required).
  • Docent Interpreter
    Provide guided tours in additional languages—such as Spanish, French, or ASL—for broader visitor accessibility (training and certification required).

  • Free parking in the Coca-Cola parking deck during their volunteer shift
  • 20% on select items in the Center’s gift shop
  • 10% off at the Bottle Cap Café next to the Center, in Pemberton Park
