exhibition overview
The Change Agent Adventure is a gallery designed for children ages 12 and under—a “secret headquarters” for young people who want to help make the world better.
Kids—and former kids—are welcome. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
Visitors begin their journey in a magic elevator, where they discover how young people across generations have helped challenge unfairness and push for change. This gallery imagines a space that those kids might have created.
Inside this interactive gallery, children explore activities that build civic and social skills, such as empathy, belonging, justice, and “upstandingness”—the courage to stand up for what’s right.

Change Agent Missions:
- Create a Change Agent Badge: New recruits answer a few questions to receive their own change agent name, password, and a badge to take home.
- Meet Young Change Makers: Hear from real young advocates from around the world who share their stories and offer encouragement.
- Design a Change Agent Hat: Inspired by the hats of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Eleanor Roosevelt, visitors can design their own symbol of leadership.
- Take on Change Agent Challenges: Spin the challenge wheel and test your new skills with interactive activities throughout the gallery.
- Leave a Pledge: Before teleporting back to the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, visitors can leave a written pledge to help build a more just world.
