About the Full Facility Buyout
For very large affairs, or events that outgrow our largest spaces and single-floor buyouts, we offer a Full Facility Buyout. Reserving the full building puts the entire National Center for Civil and Human Rights at your disposal. The Glenn, the Shirley Clarke Franklin Pavilion, the Atlanta Boardroom, and the Georgia-Pacific Fountain Plaza on the lower level, plus the Skyline Terrace, Main Lobby & Mezzanine, and any other spaces typically closed off to the public are all yours, and your guests will have full access to all Civil and Human Rights Galleries throughout the building.
With every floor held exclusively for your group, guests can move freely from an opening reception in the Main Lobby, through the exhibits, into a program in the Pavilion, and out to the Plaza or Terrace for mingling, without sharing a single hallway with another event. We offer the full buyout for evening events, for full days, or for day-into-evening special events. You can also reserve the Center for a conference or multi-day event.
Because a rental this size touches nearly every corner of the building, your event coordinator will be there to help map out how each space will work together across your program, from the moments of first arrival to last call.

What's included in the Full Facility Buyout?
Every space at the Center is part of your rental: the Glenn, the Shirley Clarke Franklin Pavilion, the Atlanta Boardroom, and the Georgia-Pacific Fountain Plaza on the lower level floor, Skyline Terrace, the Main Lobby & Mezzanine, and full access to our Civil and Human Rights Galleries throughout the building. There are a few other special spaces that we don’t usually make available for events. Ask your events coordinator for more details.
How is the Full Facility Buyout different from the Lower Level Buyout?
The Lower Level Buyout reserves the Glenn, the Shirley Clarke Franklin Pavilion, the Atlanta Boardroom, and the Georgia-Pacific Fountain Plaza. The Full Facility Buyout goes further, adding the Skyline Terrace and the Main Lobby & Mezzanine, so your event has the run of the entire building and all three floors instead of just the lower level.
What are the event hours for a Full Facility Buyout?
The Full Facility Buyout for evening events has a set-up time starting at 5:00 PM with events beginning at 6:30 PM. If you’d like an earlier start, you can pay to close the museum early, moving your set-up start time to as early as 3:00 PM. We also offer an option to close the Center to the public if you are planning a full day or multi-day event, or if you require special set up. For a daytime Full Facility Buyout (and daytime into evening), the set-up and start time can begin when the host chooses.
What happens with outdoor spaces like the Georgia-Pacific Fountain Plaza if it rains?
Since your rental already includes every indoor space in the building, you always have somewhere to move the celebration if the weather turns. If you’d rather stay outdoors, you can also rent a tent and keep going rain or shine. While we do not have one approved vendor for tent rentals at the moment, we can recommend ones we have worked with in the past and that are familiar with the Center.
Does the rental price include security for an event this size?
Museum security is required for every event and priced separately from your rental, scaling with your event’s size. Given the guest list size of a Full Facility Buyout, your event coordinator can walk you through the security needs for your guest count.
Will I have access to catering prep areas throughout the building?
Yes. Every space included in your buyout comes with a catering prep area, so your caterer can work in close proximity to wherever they’re serving.
