About the Georgia-Pacific Fountain Plaza
Some events call for open sky instead of a ceiling. The Georgia-Pacific Fountain Plaza is the Center’s outdoor landmark space, greeting guests with striking architecture right along Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard. Towering twin water features anchor the Plaza, inscribed with words from Nelson Mandela and Margaret Mead, giving guests a meaningful backdrop from the moment they arrive.
The Plaza is outdoors, so weather is always a factor. Every booking must include a reservation of the Glenn or the Shirley Clarke Franklin Pavilion as a back up in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. Your dedicated event coordinator will work with you to ensure your backup space mirrors your vision for the event.
With its prominent location at the Center and its striking surrounding architecture, the Fountain Plaza pairs an open-air setting with a backdrop that gives any event a sense of occasion.

Is there a backup plan if it rains?
Yes, a backup space is needed. Every Georgia-Pacific Fountain Plaza booking requires a reservation for either the Glenn or the Shirley Clarke Franklin Pavilion, and your event coordinator will help you choose whichever one best fits your event. If you would like to continue your event outdoors despite the rain, we can provide recommendations for vendors providing tent rentals, though please note, a backup reservation is still required.
What happens if it starts raining during my event?
Your event coordinator will help move your guests into your reserved backup space, the Glenn or the Shirley Clarke Franklin Pavilion, so the event continues without interruption.
Can I book the Plaza for a photoshoot or use it as a film location?
Yes. With twin water features inscribed with words from Nelson Mandela and Margaret Mead, the striking architecture along Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard, and the Atlanta skyline in the background, it’s a favorite spot for photographers and filmmakers looking for a backdrop with real character.
IS AMPLIFIED SOUND OR LIVE MUSIC PERMITTED ON THE Plaza?
Yes, the Plaza accommodates live performances and amplified sound. Please note that any noise, music, or sound needs to wrap up or quiet down by 11:00 PM on weekdays and 12:00 AM (midnight) on Friday and Saturday nights given the Plaza’s open-air location and Atlanta’s Noise Ordinance rules.
