Black History Month at the Center

February 1 - February 28
Promotional graphic for the National Center for Civil and Human Rights reading: ‘Black History Lives. Experience It at the Center.’ The orange and yellow illustrated background features stylized portraits of Bayard Rustin, Dorothy Dandridge, Martin Luther King Jr., and Maya Angelou.

This February, celebrate Black History Month at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights with a full month of reflection, learning, and discovery. Throughout the month, visitors are invited to explore the Center’s galleries and exhibitions honoring Black history, culture, and contributions past and present.

In addition, every Saturday in February, the Center will host special family-friendly programming included with general admission. Each Saturday features interactive activities, storytelling, and themed activations designed to engage families, educators, and young learners through hands-on experiences. Weekly themes include Black Art, Black Change Makers, Black Entertainment, and Black Sports and Science.

Guests are welcome to join us for one Saturday or return each week to experience all four themes. For families planning to attend multiple Saturdays, membership offers a cost-effective way to enjoy all four weekends while providing year-round access to the Center’s exhibitions and programs.
