LGBTQ+ Institute Symposium: Investing in our Future
Celebrate Pride Month at our three-day Symposium, aimed at mobilizing communities across Georgia and the South to empower the next generation of leaders. Starting with an opening reception and keynote at NCCHR, the event continues with a second day of dynamic workshops on mentorship and youth support that center Black women and parents of LGBTQIA+ children. Our final day features a community art and wellness festival and marketplace. Proudly co-presented with Dr. Lulu’s PRIDE Corner, OUT Georgia Business Alliance, and The Trevor Project.

Cup of Truth
Black Coffee ATL 1800 Jonesboro Rd. SE, AtlantaOur next Cup of Truth welcomes Kellie Carter Jackson, professor of Africana Studies at Wellesley College, to Black Coffee Atlanta. Professor Jackson will discuss her latest book, We Refuse: A Forceful History of Black Resistance, which focuses on the pivotal role of Black women in resistance movements throughout history. This special event will feature a moderated author talk, an interactive Q&A session, and an opportunity for book signing. Don't miss this insightful exploration of Black resistance and empowerment.

Film Screening: The Right to Read

Oakland-based NAACP activist Kareem Weaver believes literacy is one of the greatest civil rights issues of our time. Join us for a screening of The Right to Read, a documentary from executive producer Levar Burton. The film follows Weaver, two American families, and a teacher fighting to provide children with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.

Juneteenth will be celebrated on Saturday June 15, Sunday June 16, and Wednesday June 19, 2024 throughout each day (last entry at 4 PM).

Seminar V: Brick by Brick: Building Atlanta, Criminal Justice, and Race
The Carter Presidential Center 441 John Lewis Freedom Pkwy NE, Atlanta, Georgia, United StatesCity Partners with National Center for Civil and Human Rights to Launch Community Engagement for Former Chattahoochee Brick Co. Site ATLANTA--The City of Atlanta announced community involvement plans for the former Chattahoochee Brick Company site in collaboration with the National Center for Civil and Human Rights (NCCHR). This joint effort will foster discussions and awareness about the history of the property in Northwest Atlanta, and goals for its redevelopment. The first phase of involvement begins with a series of informative seminars on the background of the site and its influence on the city. Attendees will also learn about long-term plans for community engagement. Monthly seminars will take place February through June at The Carter Presidential Center.
