The LGBTQ+ community’s next generation of advocates will be discussing their work. This event features a youth writers panel moderated by poet Ayrial Storm King, Youth Coordinator for the LGBTQ+ Institute at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. Held during Atlanta Black Pride, the fourth annual Artists in the Afternoon is presented by the LGBTQ+ Institute’s YOU(th) Belong initiative, Rethink the Narrative, and The Esteem Awards. The Mountaintop

Katori Hall's acclaimed play reimagines Dr. King's final night in Memphis. In partnership with the Emory Center of Ethics and the Alliance Theatre, this event includes a reception from 6 PM to 7 PM and a conversation from 7 PM to 8 PM. The Legacy Lives On: Freedom Summer 60-Year Celebration
National Center for Civil and Human Rights 100 Ivan Allen Jr. Blvd, Atlanta, GA, United StatesCelebrate the 60th anniversary of Freedom Summer at The Center as we honor Andrew Goodman, James Chaney, and Michael Schwerner, voter registration activists murdered in Mississippi in June 1964. Hosted by The Center’s YOU(th) Belong program and a coalition of national and Atlanta-based organizations, the event highlights the continuing impact of Freedom Summer. Experts and activists will discuss voting rights history and there will be an opportunity onsite to register to vote. Don’t miss this cross-generational, inspiring event!
