You are invited to engage in conversation with the National Center for Civil and Human Rights Culture Connections Team on topics including Brave vs Safe Space, Diversity and Intersectionality, Equality vs Equity, and Being an Ally for Equity.   This experience features a screening of Love Beyond Walls Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Terence Lester’s new documentary, Homesick. The Center’s DEI Experience Initiative is hosting “Civility in our Communities,” an interactive lunch-and-learn that aims to foster positive workplace change. This month's forum will explore the inspiring response of Brunswick, GA, to the tragic murder of Ahmaud Arbery, highlighting the community's efforts to prevent violence and ensure justice for the perpetrators. Join trained facilitators for meaningful discussions on how metro Atlanta can collaborate to cultivate stronger communities in the aftermath of tragedy. This program is generously presented by Gallagher.  

Celebrate Pride Month at our three-day Symposium, aimed at mobilizing communities across Georgia and the South to empower the next generation of leaders. Starting with an opening reception and keynote at NCCHR, the event continues with a second day of dynamic workshops on mentorship and youth support that center Black women and parents of LGBTQIA+ children. Our final day features a community art and wellness festival and marketplace. Proudly co-presented with Dr. Lulu’s PRIDE Corner, OUT Georgia Business Alliance, and The Trevor Project.

When a child can’t read, their risk of incarceration, homelessness, and unemployment increases. Oakland-based NAACP activist Kareem Weaver believes literacy is one of the greatest civil rights issues of our time. Join us for a screening of The Right to Read, a documentary from executive producer Levar Burton. The film follows Weaver, two American families, and a teacher fighting to provide children with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.
