Justice for All: Freedom of the Press

  • This events has passed.

This program aired Friday, July 17th, 2020 @ 12 EST

Journalism and a free press are at the core of a society’s ability to govern itself. A free press ensures those in power are questioned and held accountable. In recent weeks, we have seen journalists attacked by police or arrested while covering protests. Leaders regularly accuse the media of being “ fake news” or an “enemy of the people.”

At the same time, newsrooms are becoming polarized by differences of opinion over editorial content and issues of journalistic impartiality. This conversation seeks to address fundamental issues facing the media today. As with all Campaign for Equal Dignity programming, our panelists will make suggestions about how we can support a free and unfettered fourth estate.
