Prior to the talk, Center guests (who have purchased admission to The Center) will be able to observe a dance workshop for local students from 4:00 pm-5:15 pm, led by Ailey dancer and Georgia native Christopher Wilson. The talk is free and open to the public.

This is the fifth annual collaboration between Ailey and The Center, part of Destination Dance Ailey Atlanta celebrating Atlanta’s vibrant cultural community through partnerships between the Ailey organization and Atlanta-based cultural, civic and educational organizations.[/vc_column_text][mk_padding_divider][mk_custom_list]

(commissioned for the 2002 Cultural Olympiad), Love Stories (with additional choreography by Robert Battle and Rennie Harris, 2004), and Among Us (Private Spaces: Public Places) (2009). Ms. Jamison’s autobiography, Dancing Spirit, was edited by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and published in 1993. In 2004, under Ms. Jamison’s artistic directorship, her idea of a permanent home for the Ailey company was realized and named after beloved chairman emerita Joan Weill. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including a Primetime Emmy Award, a Kennedy Center Honor, a National Medal of Arts, inclusion in “The Time 100,” an honor from First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House, and most recently a BET Black Girl’s Rock Living Legend Award.
