Marietta, GA – The Cobb County Remembrance Coalition (CCRC) is working to create a memorial honoring John Bailey, who was lynched in 1900 in Glover Park, Marietta, GA. Soil collected from the site of his death has been preserved in jars and will be displayed at the Marietta History Center, accompanied by a story quilt illustrating the events that led to his killing. This fellowship will support the creation of the quilt and the remainder of the exhibit—including newspaper articles, historical documents, and maps—offering a powerful tribute that the Coalition hopes will foster meaningful dialogue about race and justice in Cobb County both historically and today.
