Reparations to the descendants of slavery have been hotly debated since Emancipation and remain highly contested today. With the average white family having nearly 10 times the amount of wealth of the average Black family, many argue that reparations could help eliminate the persistent racial wealth gap. The panel will be moderated by Georgia State University Professor Tanya Washington Hicks and will feature Akinyele Umoja, Professor, Georgia State University, and Dr. Dwight Mullen, Founder, State of Black Asheville.
