“Ragtime” Presented by Serenbe Playhouse
May 18 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Public performances by Serenbe Playhouse at The Center. Performances will be framed with discussions about the use of art to address historical and contemporary social injustices.
In partnership with Serenbe Playhouse, The National Center for Civil and Human Rights will be hosting an exclusive performance preview of “Ragtime”, the musical. Adapted from the 1975 novel by E.L. Doctorow, “Ragtime” features stories from African Americans, immigrants and the upper-class elite, each seeking to secure the rights and privileges of the American Dream at the turn of the 20th century. We invite you to experience these powerful performances and explore how this performance art connects to both historic and contemporary social injustices.
This experience is free with your price of admission to The Center on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
