Volunteer Information Page

We’re so glad you’re interested in serving on our volunteer team! We’ve created this page for prospective volunteers so you can access our important information. If you have any questions please reach out to David Hopings, dhopings@civilandhumanrights.org

Background Check – This form must be submitted and processed before you can serve at The Center. If you would like to fill it out ahead of time and bring it with you to training that will be very helpful. Volunteers are required to pay for their own background check at a cost of $14.

Volunteer Program Agreement – While we want to make serving at The Center as easy as possible, we do have certain standards for our volunters. Please check out the agreement to be sure you’re ready to be a strong contributor to the team.

Portia Moore’s Museum 2.0 Blog post – An eye opening perspective on how we look at others in a cultural museum setting.

VSA Georgia’s “Interacting with People with Disabilities” – The Center is an all-inclusive organization, and we want to make sure we are prepared to serve anyone who visits The Center.

Volunteer Training – Volunteer Basics and The Center – Notes versions of our training presentations that you may print out and bring with you if you prefer to take notes.

Civil Rights and Human Rights Gallery Summaries – Summaries of our two largest galleries, good for preparing to tour The Center for the first time, or using to refresh your memory after training.

Map to The Center – This map shows our closes MARTA stop (Civic Center) and parking options in blue. The Center is not able to validate parking for your training session. The Center’s Security Entrance, which you will use for training, is marked in orange.

Security Entrance Photo – Just to make sure you are headed to the right place.

Volunteer TShirt – This is an optional uniform choice if you would prefer not to wear the provided vests.

Volunteer Parking Map – A map to parking that can be used by volunteers who have completed training and are serving at The Center.

Volunteer Parking Pass – Must be displayed in your window when parking in the designated lot.

Volunteer Benefits Menu – Trade in your hard earned hours of service for some great perks from The Center.
