Interpretation Internship

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Inc: Interpretation Intern Unpaid

 

ROLE

Under the supervision and training of the Interpretation staff, the Interpretation intern will assist with Interpretation & School Programs at the Center for Civil and Human Rights. The dates of this internship are January 2015 – May 2015.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out duties in a professional manner

• Be responsible for data entry, filing, and general office duties

• Participate in outreach programs and events as appropriate

• Attend meetings and training programs as required to support job duties and/or self-development

• Perform other duties as assigned

INTERPRETATION

Research various exhibition elements in The Center
Assist with the development of labels, exhibit interpreter resources and trainings, and tours

SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Assist with greeting school groups
Facilitate tours with school groups as needed
Assist with teacher and student program coordination

REQUIREMENTS

Must have a passion for museum education and our mission

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Excellent customer service skills

Strong organizational and research skills

Developed time management skills and the ability to multi-task

Strong attention to detail

Intern will work up to twenty hours per week; Some weekend and evenings as needed

Compensation: Unpaid

Not to exceed 20 hours per week
