Summary

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights is a 43,000 square foot facility in the heart of downtown Atlanta.  Open since June 23, 2014, it is a world class cultural institution dedicated to exploring stories of civil and human rights in dynamic indoor and outdoor space.  It is located at Pemberton Place, adjacent to Centennial Olympic Park, The New World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium.  Please visit www.civilandhumanrights.org to learn more about the Center.  

We are currently seeking experienced and motivated professionals with a belief in our vision: to present the evolving global human rights story and commemorate the historical struggle for African-American equality - the lessons and strategies of which are embraced every day by groups striving for freedom.

ROLE

The Intern reports directly to the Controller/Human Resources and will be responsible for assisting Center with specific projects and goals while gaining valuable insights into the internal working of a non-profit environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

As a part of a college work study/course, the Intern will work at the Center for a defined period while accomplishing a specific set of tasks

Organize goals for intern assignment and create a plan to complete

Ensure all guest/internal interactions are aligned with the Center’s mission

Carry out duties in a professional manner

Assist in gathering specific assigned information for NCCHR

Be responsible for data entry, filing and general office duties as a part of assignment

Participate in outreach programs and events as appropriate

Attend meetings and training programs as required to support job duties and/or self-development

Support the task based needs of the Center while thinking through link to area of study

Perform other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

Students majoring in education, history, communication or business strongly preferred

Internship will last a designated period of time with a pre-determined set of objectives

This is an internship

Not to exceed hours per week during the school semester/ hours per week during the summer

Must be friendly, outgoing and have a passion for service

Strong attention to detail

Ability to work a variable schedule based upon the needs of the Center

Local students preferred
