SUMMARY:LGBTQ+ Institute Symposium: Investing in our Future
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Pride Month at our three-day Symposium\, aimed at mobilizing communities across Georgia and the South to empower the next generation of leaders. Starting with an opening reception and keynote at NCCHR\, the event continues with a second day of dynamic workshops on mentorship and youth support that center Black women and parents of LGBTQIA+ children. Our final day features a community art and wellness festival and marketplace. Proudly co-presented with Dr. Lulu’s PRIDE Corner\, OUT Georgia Business Alliance\, and The Trevor Project.

SUMMARY:Film Screening: The Right to Read
DESCRIPTION:When a child can’t read\, their risk of incarceration\, homelessness\, and unemployment increases. Oakland-based NAACP activist Kareem Weaver believes literacy is one of the greatest civil rights issues of our time. Join us for a screening of The Right to Read\, a documentary from executive producer Levar Burton. The film follows Weaver\, two American families\, and a teacher fighting to provide children with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.
