As part of our weekend-long Human Rights Day celebrations, The Center and Georgia Public Broadcasting invite you for a screening of the first part of Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise.
This documentary examines the last five decades of African American history since major civil rights victories through the eyes of Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. The first hour that we are showing features the Selma marches that led to the 1965 Voting Rights Act and the urban rebellion that broke out days later. Each step along the journey highlights a new phase in the black struggle which reveals that our nation’s racial issues were not confined to the Jim Crow South and true equality would not come through laws alone.
Seating is first come, first served.
