During the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement, the broadest communication method available to the leaders was radio. WERD, America’s first black-owned radio station, was a major voice of the movement.

Ricci Deforest, the current owner of the WERDSTUDIO/museum, joins us for a film screening and panel discussion. We will screen “The Time is Right“, the film collaboration of The Center for Civil and Human Rights and #weloveatl, featuring Deforest and many other local social justice workers. Following the film screening, a panel will discuss social media, access to technology/internet, mobile technology and the impact of these issues on modern human rights movements.
