Digital Media Content and Communications Manager

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights (NCCHR) seeks a Digital Media Content and Communications Manager to generate and manage digital information and communications for the organization. The role requires proficiency in marketing, public relations, industry-specific technologies such as social media platforms, digital and publishing software.  Also requires a strong command of oral and written communication skills; spelling and grammar in written communications.

Role

The Digital Media Content and Communications Manager is responsible for the creation and dissemination of digital content and communications for the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. This role will primarily focus on web content, email marketing, and social media management. The Digital Media Content and Communications Manager will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organization to develop digital content and ensure messaging aligns with the mission and vision of NCCHR. The Digital Media Content and Communications Manager serves as the digital “voice of The Center.”

Reports To:  Shani Drake, Director of Marketing & Public Engagement

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, plan, and post timely, relevant content to our various social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Develop the organization’s overall social media strategy
  • Monitor various media platforms for content about or relevant to The Center
  • Develop communications outreach materials, such as press releases, email pitches, media alerts, etc.
  • Maintain The Center’s website content, including photos, bios, event registrations, job postings, etc.
  • E-mail marketing coordination utilizing Mailchimp, including donor campaigns, event promotions, RSVPs and follow-up, monthly newsletter
  • Social support for public programs
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries from social media, website, and e-mail
  • Monitor marketing email inbox and respond to or internally disseminate inquiries accordingly
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues cross-functionally to develop and design digital content
  • Maintain strategic partnerships and relationships within the industry and community
  • Assist with marketing contact maintenance in Altru database
  • Other media and marketing tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Requires minimum 2 years’ prior digital media experience & social media platform proficiency
  • Prior business or nonprofit marketing experience
  • Proficiency with the various technology tools utilized in the role such as social media platforms, MS Office Suite, graphic design and database tools
  • Knowledge of Hootsuite, Word Press, and/or AdobePro strongly preferred
  • Ability to use creativity and knowledge of Center content to create, develop, and communicate relevant digital content
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences of all ages through digital communications
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A strong command of English language grammar and spelling
  • Capable of managing multiple simultaneous priorities
  • Ability to work a variable schedule based upon the needs of the organization

 

Physical Requirements

  • Capable of working on a computer for extended periods of time
  • Extended periods of sitting and/or standing
  • Ability to lift, carry, and or move up to 25 pounds
  • Bending, reaching, kneeling
